SOTHU collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, and no server of ours for your things to go to.
Who we are
SOTHU is made by KALAI LABS PRIVATE LIMITED, Hyderabad, India (“we”). This policy covers the SOTHU app for iPhone and iPad and this website.
What you put in SOTHU
The boxes, things, places, people’s names, photos and sentences you add are stored on your device. If iCloud is on, they are also kept in your own private iCloud database, under your Apple Account, so your other devices can see them. Apple holds that data under Apple’s privacy policy. We cannot see or read it.
How photos and words are read
- Photos of boxes are read on your device with Apple’s Vision framework and Apple’s on-device Foundation Models.
- When a box is hard to read, or you tap “look harder”, the photo may be sent to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. Apple processes it for that request only, does not keep it, and does not make it available to us.
- When you speak to SOTHU, your words are turned into text on your device.
- No photo, sentence or recording is ever sent to KALAI LABS or to any other company.
Permissions
- Camera: to read an open box and to recognise a box later. Asked the first time you pack.
- Microphone and speech recognition: to hear “keys on the fridge”. Asked the first time you speak.
- Photos: to pick a photo you already took. SOTHU sees only the photo you pick.
SOTHU works without any of them; you can type instead. You can change each one in Settings.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is bought through Apple. Apple handles payment; we receive no payment details and no personal information about you.
What we do not do
We do not collect personal data, use analytics or advertising, track you across apps or websites, sell or share data, or use third-party code in the app. This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers.
Deleting your data
An empty box can be deleted inside SOTHU, and a thing you no longer have can be marked gone. To delete everything SOTHU holds, open Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Storage › SOTHU and choose Delete Data, then delete the app. Nothing is kept anywhere else.
Children
SOTHU does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
